Mom's Birthday

We went out to my parents house Sunday to celebrate my Mom's birthday, which is Thursday. We got there just as the Cowboys game was starting. Unfortunantely, they lost.

Then we started cooking. Mom made queso, enchiladas, tacos, rice and beans. It was delicious. After dinner we had angel food cake that I made with cool whip and strawberries. It was so good!

The sunset was gorgeous!!

After dinner and cake, we played games. We started with Pictonary Man, which was a lot more fun this time around. Stephen, Aaron and Mom won.

Then we went to Phase 10. Which was also a lot more fun this time. It was getting late, so we only went to Phase 8. Mom won!
We had a great day together! Also, Aaron put in an offer on a house. They negotiated a little through out the day so we will see if he gets it. It is a really neat house that would be perfect for him and he is really excited about it, so I hope they can reach an agreement.

Pottery Barn, you are cruel!

I live in Texas for a reason. More specifically, I live in Houston for a reason. And that is because of the weather (well and a few other things like family, our jobs, etc, but mainly the weather. haha). I HATE cold weather. When it is under 60, I pull out my UGGS and they don't leave my feet until it gets back above 60. Sure, it gets hot in the summer, but that's what swiming pools and popcicles are for. I live for Spring and Summer. We are currently experiencing colder than normal weather, tonight it will get down to 23 and tomorrow the high is 32. The HIGH is 32. Excuse me? I don't function in 32 degree weather. I alrady told Stephen we are not leaving the house all weekend because the high for the weekend is 40. As soon as Christmas is over, I am so over winter. I am ready for the sun to come back and stay out until 8pm, I am ready for sun dresses and flip flops. I am so over winter!

So, this morning when I checked my email I smiled when I saw one from Pottery Barn. Ohhhhh, is it a sale? Please say they are having a sale. I click on the email and what do I see, SPRING! Spring, are you kidding me? Spring? It's only the beginning of January and they have the audacity to release their Spring decor. AND email me about it. How dare them.
So here's just a few things I am loving for Spring and may have to try to create myself:
I am in love with these candlesticks:
This table is fabulous! When I refinish my table I think I am going to distress it like this:
I love white pitchers. I can imagine these filled with lemonade or a bouquet of Spring flowers:
I have been wanting to get a cake stand for a while. I think I may have to get this one:
Well, Pottery Barn, even though you are cruel, I do have to thank you for allowing me to escape from this cold, miserable weather and dream about Spring and Summer.

New Years Eve

We had April, Daniel, and Devon over for New Years Eve this year. We grilled hamburgers and tried to get a fire started. Then we decided to play Phase 10. At midnight we went outside and had champagne and did fireworks to ring in the new year. It was freezing outside, so we quickly came back in and finished our game of Phase 10. April won! We were all pretty tired, so we started watching GI Joe. I fell asleep pretty quickly as did a few other people. It was a great way to finish out 2009 and begin 2010! We are looking forward to all this year will bring us!
