End of August

Well, the end of August is here. We have been having record high temps, every day it's been 100 or higher. I am really ready for cooler weather so we can get out and go on walks!

My dad brought my baby blanket over on Sunday, so Monday Stephen played on it for a while.

Tuesday was just a normal day, hanging out at home. We did get out in the afternoon and go to Target. We needed diapers and I got Stephen a new toy for his play mat. It is a little bird that vibrates when you pull on him. Stephen seems to really like it!

He got a bath Tuesday morning and his skin was so dry on his face and scalp. You can kind of see the dry skin here.





Here is his new toy. I love this picture because he is constantly looking around for me. I was taking pictures all around him and he kept following me. So sweet!



Wednesday was a busy day. We met Stephen for lunch and then went to the Galleria. Stephen did so good in the stroller. He slept most of the time, but every now and then he would wake up and just look around. I loved the onesie he was wearing today so I put him on the bumbo when we got home and took some pictures.

He was so alert and making some cute and funny faces!

One Month

Stephen is one month old today. He is such a joy. We love him so much!

I have some one month pictures I will upload later. I took was too many (surprise!) and still need to go through and edit them.

Here are some things he has been up to this month:

*I'm not sure how much he weighs today, but at his 2 week appointment he weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces and he seems to have gotten much heavier since then.

* He wears mostly gowns and some size 0-3 month clothing. The gowns are so nice and easy and look so comfy!

* He eats 3 oz. every 2-3 hours and sometime 4-5 hours at night. He hasn't breastfed since he was a week old, but I have been pumping so he still gets only breast milk.

* He HATES to be burped! He will cry and scream every time.

* He is not on any kind of schedule. He eats and sleeps whenever.

* At night, he usually goes to sleep between 11-1 and then gets up sometimes at 3-4 and sometimes sleeps until 6-6:30. We have some good nights and some bad nights, you just never know!

* He loves to be held and has since he was born. The first week, I slept with him in our big chair. Since then there have been a few nights I have slept with him in the chair. He falls asleep with us holding him and then we put him into the pack in play in our room or during the day I let him sleep on the changing pad, which he loves. Or we just hold him while he sleeps. I know we are spoiling him rotten, but I also know that this won't last forever, so I am just cherishing these sweet moments now.

* Right now, he loves to lay on his stomach and sleep on our chest or shoulder. It is so sweet!

* He is only fussy if he is hungry, has a dirty diaper, or is fighting his sleep. When he is hungry, he goes from being fussy to screaming in .2 seconds and the bottle warmer takes 3 and a half minutes. There is no consoling him during this time, he just screams- it's a long 3 and a half minutes! He has also been fighting is sleep lately. He will be so fussy and then just stop and pass out.

* He will take a pacifier if he is slightly fussy or trying to go to sleep, but he spits it out once he is calm or asleep. If he is really upset, he hates that you are trying to give him the pacifier.

* He can hold his head up really well.

* He loves getting a bath.

*He likes tummy time and laying on his play mat.

*When he is awake, he is so alert and cute. He just looks around and make some of the funniest faces.

*He likes to sleep with his hands up by his head. It is the cutest thing!

What a month this has been! I don't want to forget any of it! And I want to cherish every second!

Saturday

Stephen was off today so started our Saturday off by taking his truck to the dealership to get something fixed with the brakes. Pablo and Aaron got to meet Stephen.

Aunt Linette sent Stephen the cutest onesies and Trumpette socks so I had to get a picture of his outfit before we left. They are from Baby Once of course!

We then headed to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.

Once we got home, we just relaxed the rest of the day.

We love having Stephen home on Saturdays with us!

Thank goodness it's Friday! We are so ready for the weekend!

4 Weeks Old

Stephen is 4 weeks old today! I really can't believe it has already been 4 weeks. I will probably be saying that for each week/ milestone in his life- ha!

My mom and Roslyn came over this morning to watch Stephen for a little bit so I could go get a manicure and pedicure. It was so wonderful and relaxing!

And they came bearing gifts! He got a new play mat!

I love his Trumpette socks. Thank you Baby Once!

This week

Well, I am just plain exhausted! Keeping up with pictures and blogging is the last thing that gets done around here, so I am lumping a few days into one blog post. I will probably do this a lot from here on out.

Monday we just hung out all day.

Stephen took a morning nap in his pack in play.

Then we played on his tummy time mat.

I had to take a picture of his pink sleeve. We give him gas drops before each feeding and for some reason they are pink. He always sticks his hands in his mouth right after we give him these drops and then then end up on his sleeve or shirt. He has pink all over him every single day!

Tuesday, we just hung out all day.

There was a late afternoon outfit change, due to either spit up or poop- I can't remember.

Wednesday was also uneventful. Stephen got a morning bath and then we just hung out all day again.

Sleeping baby

Warning: Lots of pictures of a sleeping baby. Will probably be boring to most, but I love them all and just couldn't narrow it down.

Our first night out

Stephen and I went out for the first time together since having the baby. My parents came over to babysit. We went to dinner and then ran a few errands. It was especially nice for me to get out of the house and have a few hours to not worry about the baby. We certainly enjoyed our time out, but we did miss our baby boy. It seemed like someone was missing all night. My parents are so wonderful with him though and we know he loved his time with them.

Thanks Mom and Dad for coming over to babysit! We really enjoyed our few hours out and we know Stephen loved his time with y'all!

Eating and Sleeping

We are having a relaxing day around here today. It's been a rough week, so we are just taking it easy. The dishes and clothes will have to wait because my boy and I are just cuddling, napping and eating today. And we can't wait for daddy to get home and relax with us!

Three weeks old

Our baby is three weeks old today! He is just the light of our lives! We can't imagine life without him!

We used the tummy time mat for the first time today and he seems to like it! He does great with tummy time!
