I'm alive! A recap of the past 3 weeks and some pictures.

After almost 3 weeks of being really sick, I am finally starting to feel like myself again!  Hallelujah!

It all started with a really bad headache and flu like symptoms.  I figured I had the flu, would be down a few days and then I would be back to normal.  No sir.  It did not go down like that... at all!

To sum up the past three weeks:

* I got migraine like headaches (and I don't ever get headaches that 2 advil don't cure) that would not respond to migraine medicine or hydrocodone.

* I thought I was feeling better, so I took Stephen to play and go to dinner.  My vision started getting blurry, I was slurring my words, and I couldn't remember simple things.  My mom came and got me and took me to the ER and my dad came to get Stephen.  (Stephen was out of town and would have come home, but I told him not to.)

* After enduring the most painful procedure I have ever been through (a lumbar puncture), I was released from the ER with a diagnosis of unresolved.   Awesome.

* The day after the ER, I woke up with a bad rash on my back, which we found out was the shingles.  I got more medicine to add to my stash.

* I missed 5 1/2 days of work.  I don't think I have called in sick that much total in the entire 9 years I have been there.

* I finally started feeling better, only to realize, I was not better and needed to stay at home and rest.

* The rash is getting better and my headaches are finally GONE!  I am also feeling more like myself and am getting some energy back.

So, that pretty much wraps up the last 3 weeks.  Shingles is no fun!  But I am happy I am on the tail end of it and can't wait to feel 100% again!

I have to say THANK YOU to my amazing parents!!!  They dropped everything to come help me and took such great care of Stephen and me!  And my mom made me an entire weeks worth of dinners so I could just rest and get better and not have to worry about cooking.  Thank you both SO much!!

I got so sick so fast, it literally came out of nowhere.  I felt so bad that I couldn't take Stephen to the pool, play outside with him, etc., but I was just trying to survive.  In the mornings I would lay in bed and wonder how I was going to get up to go get him out of bed.  And then in the afternoons when Blessing left, I would put on Barney and Thomas the Train and just sit on the couch until Stephen got home from work.  I felt so bad that I couldn't do more.

This whole ordeal taught me a lot.  I always took my health for granted.  Albeit being overweight, I am a healthy person.  I rarely get sick and I don't take medications on a daily basis.  Our medicine cabinet consists of advil and allergy medicine, so it was a huge wake up call to be that sick so fast.  To end up in the ER and be tested for some scary things.  One day I was fine and the next day I wasn't.  I do know that I will be taking much better care of my body and myself.

I also learned to make everyday count.  You don't know what is in store for tomorrow, so make the best of today.  And appreciate the little things.  I couldn't even make Stephen breakfast for a week.  The first day I made him breakfast again, I felt like supermom!!

Ok, now for the reason you all are really here, pictures of my little boy!

I took this one before I got sick.  I have no idea what we were doing or where we were going, but I love it!

We did this every afternoon.  Blinds closed, Barney on.  I am so thankful for my little trooper, he was so good for me!

The day I thought I was better.  I took this picture to send to Stephen who was out of town.

After we left the ER, we went to my parents house so they could take care of us.  Stephen learned how to eat corn on the cob.

Here's a video of him eating it:

Stephen was out of town again and I sent this picture to him.  Not the best quality, but I love this boy's smile!

I have a few more posts to catch up on from before I got sick, so they will be coming up soon!
