Destin

Two weeks ago, Stephen and I went to Destin for 5 days.  We went for our friends wedding and decided to stay a few extra days.  I had been to Destin as a teenager and knew it was beautiful, but when I first saw the beach this trip, I was reminded just how unbelievably beautiful Destin is.

We flew in Saturday and had lunch with friends and then headed to the beach.  Tropical storm Karen had been in the gulf the week before and brought in a lot of seaweed that Destin does not normally have.  It was still beautiful though.

We were staying the the peach/ orange house you see here.  It was amazing!  It slept 26, was 3 stories high and had a pool.

That night we had a bonfire on the beach.

The sunsets on the beach were unreal.

The moon was incredible down on the beach.

The next morning we got up and hung out on the patio.  What a view!

This was the day of the wedding and everyone that was in the wedding spent the day getting ready.  I spent the day with a few of the girls who were not in the wedding.  We went down to the beach that morning.  I brought my big camera and took some pictures.

The seaweed was so different from the seaweed in Galveston.  Still gross, but not as bad.

These sea slugs were everywhere.  Apparently the storm Karen brought them in.  The first day we were there they were laying all over the beach and we were staring at them and a lady stopped and told us that they were sea slugs. The are about the size of your fist.   They swim in the water.

Then things got a little wild.  The Village People showed up to perform the YMCA.

The police may have been called for the noise and we may have gone down to the beach at 2 am.  It was a fun night!

After sleeping in the next day, a group of us went down to the beach.  The seaweed was almost gone and it was a perfect day.

The guys played frisbee while the girls laid out.

We did a little shopping that afternoon and just hung out at the house.  I could not get over the sunsets and our view from the house was unbelievable!

The next day, quite a few people left to go home, some more were headed to Disney world, and some decided to just hang out at the house.  We decided to go do some water sports.  Stephen, Tootie, and Russell rented wave runners.

Peter, Brian, and I decided to parasail.  It was so much fun!  I had done it before in the Bahamas and while I was a little more nervous this time, it was so much fun!

They dunked us in the water and this was the picture of that.  FAIL!

We had lunch again on the water and then went back to the house.  Everyone took naps and I headed down to the beach.  It was so peaceful and relaxing.

We went shopping that evening and then went to dinner with all of our friends who were still there.

The next day, we got up and packed and headed to the airport to go home.  It was hard to come back to reality, but we were so ready to see our little boy!! My parents kept him for us and he had a great time.  We are so grateful to them for keeping Stephen for us.  He loves being at their house and while we miss him, we never worry about him.  Thank you Mom and Dad for taking such good care of our baby!
