Uncle Aaron put his sunglasses on Stephen and he sat there still without moving. It was too funny!
The first exhibit we went into was inside and had these turtles and some fish. We had never seen turtles with such long necks before.
These chipmunks were running around like crazy in this exhibit. They would briefly stop to dig a hole or stand up and look at the people, but then run back around.
There were 2 big tortoises with the chipmunks.
The baby elephants were so cute! We learned that they throw dirt on themselves as a form of sunscreen.
It was amazing how they used their trunks to get the food out of this box. They would get a bunch together and then roll it up their trunk and put into their mouth. The ends of their trunks looked like fingers. It was crazy. There was a huge group standing and watching in amazement.
This is an Asian Elephant, I believe.
This guy had an injured foot and limped. The zookeeper that was at the exhibit told us that he limps worse the more people are around- haha!
Such a good Aunt and Uncle!
We then made it to the giraffes.
There was an ostrich in with the giraffes. I was a little scared he was going to come peck me as I was taking this pictures, but he didn't!
We then got to feed the giraffes. You can buy lettuce to feed them.
Then it was time for a picnic lunch. We found the best spot and had a great lunch thanks to Mom! She packed everyones favorites!
Stephen was crawling around getting into everything, so we gave him a water bottle and he could not have been happier. He loves water bottles!
We left after the picnic so we could get Stephen to take a nap and Mom and Dad left as well. Aaron and Jessica stayed and looked at everything else. Jessica said the primates were really cool. My very kind brother sent me some pictures from the snake house. Isn't he nice? The answer is NO!!
We had such a wonderful day at the zoo! The weather was beautiful and the company was great! We are looking forward to doing it again! Great idea Jessica!!
