We left Houston at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12th, for our flight to Paris.

My dad has traveled all over the world and I remembered him talking about jet lag and saying that as soon as he got on the plane he adapted the time zone for where he was traveling to.  Paris is 7 hours ahead of Houston time and after an eight and a half hour flight, we would arrive at 8:35 am Paris time.  This meant we HAD to sleep on the plane.  We were already pretty tired because the past 3 nights we had been to bed late after packing and getting stuff ready, but Stephen and I both took sleeping pills as soon as the plane took off.  We put on our sleep masks and were out!   We were in premium economy which was soooooo nice and the rest of our family said they were served an amazing dinner, but we didn't care.  Sleep was the most important thing on our agenda.

I slept better than Stephen, but still woke up after 4 hours.  I caught a glimpse of the most beautiful sunrise.  I then put my sleep mask back on and tried to get some more rest.  I slept on and off for the next 4 hours and felt pretty rested when we landed in Paris.  The rest of our family did not make sleep a big priority on the flight and were pretty tired upon arrival in Paris.

We arrived in Paris on Thursday, June 13th, at 8:35 am.

We got our baggage and headed to the hotel.  Our rooms weren't ready yet, so we all freshened up in Steve and Nancy's room.  They had arrived in Paris on Tuesday.   Since we hadn't eaten yet, we all headed to get a bite to eat.  We went to a small cafe across the street from our hotel.  When we told them there were 11 of us, they looked shocked, but quickly found us some tables together.  They even asked a couple to move so we could sit together.  I thought that was rude, but the couple looked happy to move away from us.

I really wanted a croissant, but they were out (how could that be?), so I opted for an omelet instead.  In fact everyone had omelets.   It was very good and probably a much better option than a croissant since I hadn't eaten dinner the night before and we had a day full of walking ahead of us.

We finished breakfast and then Steve, Nancy, Mary, Gary, Michael, Stephen and I headed off to Versailles.  The Tamas family stayed back at the hotel to sleep as they slept very little on the place.

Stay tuned for our adventure in Versailles.
