Telling stories

No pictures with this blog, just something I want to remember.

Tonight I was putting Stephen to bed and after we read a few books, he wanted to rock in the glider.  I used to sing to him every night, but lately he does not like me to sing or dance anytime.  So tonight I started telling him stories.  I started out saying, "there was once a little baby named Stephen and he was so cute and adorable and everyone loved him.  One night his Daddy came home from work and had the hiccups and it made baby Stephen laugh and laugh."  I would hiccup and then laugh and then he started laughing.  I went through some other things Stephen does like tickling him, etc.  Then Stephen adds in that Daddy went beep beep.  He has been obsessed with honking horns lately, so Stephen honks the horn when he leaves in the morning and Stephen loves it.  I loved that he added in something to the story.

After I finished the story about Stephen and Daddy, he told me, "more".  So I told him stories about him and Yaya, Papa, Papaw, and Nana.  He loved it!

Then I told him a story about a little boy named Stephen who had gone to school all day and played with his friends, come home and played with Mommy, ate dinner, took a bath, read books, and then got in his bed and closed his eyes and went night night.   As soon as I said that he closed his eyes and then started laughing.  I couldn't believe he knew I was talking about him and thought it was so cute!

It was a really sweet night with my baby that I wanted to remember.  The first of many story telling nights I'm sure.

One other thing I just thought of that I wanted to add.

Saturday morning, Stephen went to work and we were waving goodbye and he honked his horn which Stephen loved.  That afternoon my mom was watching Stephen while I went to a baby shower and she said he was telling her some elaborate story.  He would say, Dada Papaw Bye Beep Beep.  She couldn't figure out what he was trying to tell her, and then it clicked for me.  He was telling her that this morning Daddy went bye bye to see Papaw (we've been talking a lot about Papaw and telling him that Daddy is visiting him, so he thinks that Daddy is always with Papaw even if he is at work) and honked the horn.  I love how he is trying to put sentences together.
